Decorating with a horse & pony theme
Krissy, this one's for you!
Girls of all ages love horses and ponies, and it’s a playful theme to consider for a daughter’s bedroom. Go with lavender and hot pink as your main colors and white furniture and accessories to complete the look. These folk art inspired sheets are our inspiration piece. We’ve made the bed with these bright sheets, mixed with colorful patterned and solid duvet and coverlet for extra warmth. We love this hot pink crinkly cotton coverlet and matching shams adorned with playful pom-poms.
The bedding looks great on this twin bed with a very feminine and intricate design with a beveled headboard and turned wood legs. It has a slightly distressed look so it feels like a well loved hand-me-down that will stand the test of time. Get it with an accompanying Jenny Lind nightstand, aptly named for the turned spindle characteristics.
A classic braided rug in tea rose hues is a great choice for a kid’s room because it’s durable and washable.
A continuation of the folk art theme, an all white glazed horse lamp has subtle tribal patterns on it that make it appropriate beyond the horse fanatic phase. This lamp is pricey, but is sophisticated enough she might want to keep it for years to come.
Accent a wall in the room with a giant equestrian themed mural. A striking silhouetted stable scene is so unique; it will make the room. If you buy just one big thing to suit your daughter’s horse fancy, this it.
Handmade of white twisted iron, these horse forms add lots of style on a book shelf, nightstand or desk. It’s a decorative item any horse lover will appreciate.
This artist’s painting of a horse is perfectly done in the palette for our room. You don’t have to purchase pricey paintings to get the full effect of a grouping of horse-inspired images hung with ribbon or resting on shelves. Let your daughter pick several pieces in a cohesive color family so she can feel like she has a hand in the decorating.
